We finally have that Grateful Dead track! Since TSTD1 we have been begging the band to give us permission to include this killer track and finally it worked out with kind permission. Back in 1978 Rolling Stone weren't so enthusiastic of course, declaring that the song 'comes across as an artistic dead end' and 'the disco tinges merely add to the catastrophe.' Of course, to us this is a ringing endorsement! Rumour has it that band didn't like the song that much in the beginning because they were asked by the record company to produce something 'a bit more commercial' which no band likes to hear … But for some strange reason the fans went mad for the track. Soon after the release, the band opened their live shows with the song and even now Grateful Dead followers, the 'Deadhaeds', ended up referring to the illicit vending areas outside Dead concerts as 'Shakedown Street'.
