The Rex Foundation sent Elliott Carter the following message when he received the Grammy for the Violin Concerto;

Congratulations to Elliott Carter, Winner of the National Academy Of Recording Arts And Sciences' 1994 GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Composition for his Violin Concerto, Performed by the London Sinfonietta (Oliver Knussen, Conductor; Ole Bohn, Violin). This recording, which was funded in part by a Rex grant, is available on Virgin Classics Compact Disc (0777 7592712 2). The CD also features Carter's Concerto for Orchestra and Three Occasions for Orchestra. We salute this richly deserved acknowledgement of Elliott Carter, at 85 still America's most promising young composer.
