Molly Dee was possibly rehearsed in the studio by the Grateful Dead during the Go To Heaven sessions. The song was performed by Robert Hunter in the 1980's. In the notes accompanying the song France in A Box of Rain: Lyrics 1965-1993 Hunter states that: France was written to tapes of a joyous afternoon Latin jam at Mickey Hart's ranch, the same jam that spawned Molly Dee and Northeast by West.
