Sleigh Ride
Composer: Leroy Anderson

Sleigh Ride was written as a light orchestral instrumental in the late 1940's. It was first recorded by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra in 1949. Lyrics for the piece were written by Mitchell Parish in 1950. The first vocal versions was probably the Andrews Sisters 1950 single. Subsequently many instrumental and vocal versions have been recorded.

The main theme of Sleigh Ride was played by Jerry Garcia during the soundcheck prior to the December 12, 1973 show in Atlanta.
