Wail Frail was a big band chart written by Phil Lesh for the San Mateo College Jazz Band. The piece circulates on tape from a performance by the San Mateo College Jazz Band, including Phil Lesh, at San Mateo College, San Mateo on April 5th 1959. On circulating copies of this performance the piece used to be listed as Whale Trail. It has since been determined that the correct title is Wail Frail.
