Black Jazz LP discography
This page lists albums and singles released on the Black Jazz label.Black Jazz was setup by musician Gene Russell and percussionist and engineer Dick Schory in Oakland in 1970. The first albums were released on the label in 1971. The label folded in 1975 after releasing 20 albums and around 10 singles. The Black Jazz catalog was then out of print for a few years until James Hardge, Jr. bought the masters in the late 1980's and released all the original albums on CD and released a new album by one of the original Black Jazz musicians. The Black Jazz catalog was purchased by Snow Dog Records in 2012 and the catalog was again reissued. A series of remix albums of Black Jazz material was also released.
