Front Street Sheiks

In an interview in 1987 John Kahn mentioned that the members of the Jerry Garcia Band, with the exception of Ron Tutt, used to get together to play at the Godchaux's house. This informal group also played at the Dead's rehearsal space on Front Street in San Rafael and called themselves the Front Street Sheiks.

The group appears to have played primarily jazz standards, sometimes as a trio: Keith Godchaux (piano), Jerry Garcia (guitar), John Kahn (bass), and sometimes additionally, possibly, with Donna Jean Godchaux on vocals.
