Notes

The tapes of these shows were given to Keith Godchaux in 1971 by Jerry Garcia to familiarise him with the recent repertoire before joining the band. Keith left the tapes on his parents' houseboat in Alameda, where they stayed for 35 years. The box of tapes was discovered on the houseboat in 2005 and returned to the Grateful Dead vault.

The rear cover of Dick's Picks, Vol. 35 carries the following warning;

CAVEAT EMPTOR
Dick's Picks Volume 35 was mastered directly from the original 1/4 track stereo tapes, which had been stored in less-than-optimal conditions for nearly 35 years. Miraculously, the tapes survived remarkably well, and have been resurrected from the ashes. Some minor anomalies remain, resultant from the ravages of time and the unorthodox storage methods.
The rear cover of Dick's Picks, Vol. 1 carried a similar message and also a message briefly explaining the reason for the Dick's Picks series;
Dick's Picks differs from our From The Vault series in that we simply did not have access to complete shows (nor the modern mixing capabilities afforded by multitrack tapes) But we think the historical value and musical quality of these tapes more than compensates for any technical anomalies... In other words what you hear is what you get. And what you get ain't bad!
