Notes

Performed once by the Grateful Dead, with members of Jefferson Airplane on 7th September 1969.

Written in 1934. Some sources claim that this was one of very few songs written by Rodgers and Hart that was not intended for a musical or film.

Others though give the following history. The prototype of the song, named Make Me A Star, was written for a Jean Harlow film that was not completed. The song was then reworked, as The Bad In Every Man, for Shirley Ross to sing in the 1934 film, Manhattan Melodrama but was not included in the final version of the film. Finally it was reworked with no film or show in prospect as Blue Moon.

It has subsequently, however, been used in many films though including; East Side, West Side in 1950, With A Song In My Heart in 1952, Grease, Scorsese's New York, New York and An American Werewolf In London which used three versions of the song, by The Marcels, Bobby Vinton and Sam Cooke.
