Shotgun Down The Avalanche was probably played by Bruce Hornsby with The Sensitive Ones in September 1999. The Sensitive Ones were a group, put together for one short tour, that included Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin, Bruce Hornsby, David Lindley & Wally Ingram.

The song was first released on a compilation distributed with Fast Folk Musical Magazine in 1988. It was then released on the Shawn Colvin album Steady On in 1990.
