Notes
Played by Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, David Crosby and John Cipollina at a studio session in Novato on August 21, 1971. The song is registered as and occurs as both (Ghost) Riders In The Sky and Riders In The Sky but the former occurs most frequently. Sometimes occurs with the subtitle (A Cowboy Lament). Occurs as an instrumental and with lyrics. It may be that the two titles refer to the original instrumental, Riders In The Sky, and the version with lyrics and that the distinction between the two has subsequently been lost. This is only a theory at present. The recordings listed above cover both titles.
