Butch Engle & The Styx Discography
The first Butch Engle group, Butch Engle and The Showmen, came into being in 1963 when Engle inherited an earlier group. Members of the group were slowly replaced by high school friends of Engle and the groups recorded their first single in 1964. After a personnel change the group name was changed to Butch Engle & The Styx in 1965. Shortly after this Engle met Ron Elliott of the Beau Brummels who subsequently provided the group with songs and worked on their arrangements. A second single was released in 1966 on the Warner Brothers subsidiary Loma. A final single, using the group name The Styx, was released in 1967. An album was planned but the groups split up in 1967.
