Notes
Performed only once, with members of the Beach Boys, on 27th April 1971.
A song that started as a joke after Haggard and his band the Strangers saw a sign for Muskogee whilst on tour. One of the Strangers said that the people of Muskogee probably didn't smoke marijuana, and Haggard and the Strangers drummer, Roy Burris, started messing with the line. According to Haggard "It started as a joke but it only took three seconds before we realized the importance of it." It then took about 20 minute to finish. Haggard's version was number one in the country charts in November 1969.
The Youngbloods recorded an answer song in 1970 called Hippie From Olema.
