I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome
Composer: Bill Monroe / Hank Williams

I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome was played by Jerry Garcia with High Country in February 1969.

I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome was written in the late 1940's when Bill Monroe and Hank Williams shared the bill during some tours. The song is usually credited to Bill Monroe and Hank Williams. It is generally thought now that Hank Williams wrote the song and Bill Monroe for some reason ended up with a writing credit. To add to the confusion writing credits on early recordings are James Smith - this seems to be a pseudonym originally used for some publishing or financial reason.

The song also occurs on recordings as Blue and Lonesome, I'm Blue and Lonesome and I'm Blue and Lonesome Too. Note that there are also different songs with similar titles.
