Garcia/Saunders band discography
Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders stared to jam together at informal gigs at the Matrix and then at the Keystone Korner in 1971. This activity coalesced into a regular performing quartet, initially comprising Garcia, Sauders, John Kahn and Bill Vitt, which became Garcia's main performing outlet outside the Grateful Dead until the Summer of 1975. Garcia, Saunders and Kahn were ever-present members of the group. The drum seat was occupied at times by Vitt, Bill Kreutzmann, Paul Humphrey and, finally, Ron Tutt. The group was a quintet for periods with additional musicians including guitarist Tom Fogerty, percussionist Armando Peraza, saxophonist Martin Fierro and for a few shows vocalist Sarah Fulcher. The final line-up of the band (Garcia, Saunders, Kahn, Fierro and Tutt) used the name Legion Of Mary. For more information about this group see the Legion of Mary page.
