Death Don't Have No Mercy
Composer: Traditional / Rev. Gary Davis

Death Don't Have No Mercy was probably first performed by the Grateful Dead in early 1966. It was played about 40 times between then and April 1970 with the majority of performances being in 1968 and 1969. After a long absence from Grateful Dead set lists the song returned a handful of times in 1989 and 1990.

Death Don't Have No mercy is usually credited to Rev. Gary Davis. Sometimes credits are traditional. It is possible that Davis adapted existing songs, such as Death Come To My House He Didn't Stay Long, to create Death Don't Have No Mercy.
